y'arrr. Looks like there be treasure to find in that booty.

HugoTendaz responds:

Handful of treasure ;)

Looks fun, lots of stuff going on too look at. Line and shape-work can always be better, but that should be a matter of time.

One thing i think could use some attention is the color levels and contrast. Cause it might be fine when looking with a crisp display under ideal lighting condition. But in my case (kinda shitty phone with daylight) things can be a little hard to see, like the charactere legs and the trees on the left and right. Might be handy to turn the image in black&white/grayscale then see if everything is still as visible as it should be.
Cause there's clearly some effort put into the background as well, shame if peeple have a hard time seeing it.
So I'd either make sure things stand out a bit more from eachother, when it comes to colors, brightness or contrast & all that jazz. Or either simplifying some background elements so its easier to differentiate things by their shapes and silhouettes.

KayJay-Artique responds:

Thanks for the review man, although this piece is 3 1/2 years old and I have plenty of newer pieces on here. ^^; I've made 6 artworks in the past month alone and I kinda did a remake of this for X-Mas last year. https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/g4cesz-official/north-pole-heist
But thanks for taking your time to do a review anyway, it's appreciated nonetheless. ^^

Damn dude, that's bloody enchanting right there!

CowFz responds:

Thanks man! glad you like it :D

That legitimely looks ready to go, to be put into Smash, or like an overhauled remake of SMRPG like Nintendo did with Link's Awakening (should almost be a no-brainer with how SMRPG looked originally, and how nintendo is on a streak of making games look like toys or crafted materials)..

The wood textures look just right for a little toy. Cloth texture on the hat looks good, and the one on the cape (not sure what material the cape is supposed to be, but it looks like the right one).

Only thing I doubt being the right decision is the arm-gun. It looks spot-on to fit with the eastethics, but it might look a little too good for its own good, if you know what I mean. Might have been a good cherry on the cake to have more of an arm-toy-blaster instead of a realistic miniature rifle-head attached.
But that's a matter of style and prefference, you could still try another arm-gun-thing and include a version of that, lol. People do it all the time with lewds anyways, posting same versions of one piece with/without dicks, with/without wet bits or different amounts of clothes.

NicoBros responds:

Ya right about all of that. As for the concept of it itself, I tried to do a mix version between Smashfied version and SMRPG version 3D models, and at the game concept art (and the official arts) shows that Geno's arm-gun is literally like that I did, so I wanted to do it exactly the same way it is.
Thanks for your lovely feedback!

Looks absolutely gorgeous. Also struck a good ballance of some outer stuff that look slightly blurry in contrast to the center things looking sharper. Helps steer the eyes in the right dirrection.

As for the name thing. Deffinetly get that. Really sucks when people take stuff and post them without permission to hog the views for themselves, without doing any of the work, or not even linking it to where they found it.
I would reccomend a bit more creative approach though. Like develloping a stylish signature to work into your pieces. Sure you did match the text colors with the black and blue from her robe and her hair, but other than that its a bit dull.
Like it might've been cool to have your signature engraved in the arrow that pierced her for example. Maybe even like in a bit of a glowy elf-ish font. Like how the ring in LOTR glowed when it was held in fire.
Just some food for thought. But regardless, always a wise choice to put your name on your work (I also preffer it, so when I do find nice art elsewhere and wanna look up more stuff from the artist, I have a name that I can look up).

Zakuga responds:

I'm always scared to do a fancy name, because I don't want ppl to get distracted by it, but finding something more elegant wouldn't hurt.

Wai.... Whu... But, ehhg...?THE LEGEND HAS RETURNED!!

Suppose its not for good. But think a lot of peeps are happy to see u 'round NG again.

Anywae, lovely piece. The lighting comming in from the left looks great. Think its a good choice not to have gone for a like, twisted upperbody, like a lot of more conventional pin-ups do for showing both the bottom and the chest. Instead opted for the less overused, illusive sideboob. Wich is in all weirdness to say, honestly one of the best teasing sideboob shots I've seen.

Only minor nitpick I could put on the table would be the hat, and the bunney-ear-ish ribbon. They look a tad flat to me comared to the rest in the piece. I think if there was just a bit of depth/perpective applied to those accesories, it woulda perfected the cherry top. But still, tiny lil nitpick.

And merry x-mas to u too! Hope that shitty hysterical Maria Carrey song wont drive ya mad like me ';).

rtil responds:

i've only heard it once...so far

Well, we have Blue Mary in the background of the K.O.F stage. And she has the better jigglies anyways.
But luv that expression on Daisy's face. And the simple designs look quite appealing, exactly enough detail to be easily recogisable, not too cookiecutter chibi either.

PilloTheStar responds:

In my case, simplicity is a byproduct of laziness.
But hey, I'll take appealing. Glad you enjoyed it, thanks.

Is knew there'd be stuff from him in that towel after seeing the trailer with his redesign. Now to redesign all of those human actors and enviroments and to replace those with animal CG guys (possible exeption of Jim Carrey.

Anywho, about the art the lines look nice and confident, no squigly shit. The towel looks a little stiff though, especially from where it goes down from the waist, when it comes off of the butt, it has this outward curve with some space between the skin wich i think shouldn't be there. That curve shoulda been on the skin instead of kinda hovering over, then transition outward at the end to follow the bed a little.
Could be something said about the wrinkles at the waist as well, but thats a whole deeper thing to study, wrinkles in cloth n shit.

ProtagonArt responds:

Thank you for the critique, always good to gain advice for improvement!

Loving the juicyness of Zelda's legs there.
And nice tacticall cover-ups so u did have to draw any feet. Though on Zelda's raised leg it looks a little weird if u look closely, like the foot just dissapeared. I think the part of the skirt needed just a little shading to suggest the shape of it just a little.

Namenloose responds:

Thank you! Glad I captured the legs right then.
Tentacles needed to show up somewhere in the piece, so the feet were a worthy sacrifice.
You're right! I didn't pick up on that until now. Should have put some more fluidity and interaction between the fabric and her foot. Thank you for the critique, much appreciated!
